Judy-Ann Cazemier is a fine art photographer and greeting card designer creating Judy-Ann’s Nature Cards from her nature photos. She received her education from Grades 5 to 12 in Treherne, Manitoba and received her first camera, a Kodak 174 Instamatic, at age 10. Raised by her mother Rev. Catharina Allan and dad Jack Allan, inspired by her sister Margaret, Judy finished high school with honours before earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Winnipeg and two diplomas in photography at Humber College in the Toronto area.
Despite residing in the bustling city for 38 years, Judy considers herself a Westerner deeply connected to the natural world and passionate about photography. For the last nine years, she has focused on bird photography and created Bird Book, a collection of photographs of our feathered friends, as well as Finding Wings: Photographing Birds in and around Toronto. Judy works for the Artists’ Network at the Leslie Grove Gallery in Toronto. Please contact her at judycazemier@gmail.com and/or view her website at www.judyanncazemier.ca.
Bird portraits come to life in my fine art photography. They are beautiful although challenging to photograph since they move and can fly away. “Birds are meant to be free; that is why they have wings,” wrote bird-guide author Roger Tory Peterson. Photography gives me a thrill, whether capturing a moment in time, selecting the best images from a photo assignment, or the happiness of seeing my photographs on display.
